The Matchpoint Pairs Event at the 9th All India Shree Cement Open Bridge Championship 2026 is a highly competitive format that emphasizes precision, consistency, and tactical judgment. In this event, players compete in fixed partnerships, with each pair striving to achieve the best possible score on every board.

Scoring is based on matchpoints, where each pair’s result on a board is compared against all other pairs playing the same deals. Pairs earn points according to their relative performance, making every trick vital. This format rewards accuracy in bidding, careful card play, and the ability to consistently outperform the field.

The event will consist of two elimination rounds. After Elimination I, the qualified pairs will advance to Elimination II, while non-qualified pairs will compete in the Strata Event, continuing with the same partnership. In case a pair chooses to change their partnership at Strata stage, an additional charge will be applicable, as determined by the Organising Secretary.

Typically conducted over multiple sessions, the Matchpoint Pairs Event demands not only technical excellence but also strategic awareness, including percentage play and risk management.
