The West Bengal State Bridge Championships came to a memorable close with an action-packed final day, as both the Teams and Pairs events concluded, bringing an end to several days of intense competition and high-quality Bridge.

 

Strong Participation and Competitive Spirit

This year’s championship witnessed the participation of 36 teams, reflecting the growing strength and enthusiasm for Bridge in the state. From the opening boards to the final rounds, players displayed exceptional skill, discipline, and sportsmanship, making the event a true celebration of the game.

 

Teams Event: Champions Crowned

The Teams competition delivered gripping encounters and closely fought matches. After a series of challenging rounds, KKK Bridge Lovers Gold emerged as the champions.
The winning team comprised Sumit Mukherjee, Debabrata Majumder, Sayantan Kushari, Sagnik Roy, Kaustabh Nandi, and Vikrant Senchaudhuri, whose consistency and teamwork stood out throughout the event.

Finishing as runners-up was EISK, represented by Pijush Kanti Baroi, Sukamal Das, Sanjit Dey, Binod Shaw, Biswajit Poddar, and Shambho Nath Ghosh, who put up a commendable performance and pushed the champions all the way.

Pairs Event: A Nail-Biting Finish

The Pairs final added further excitement to the concluding day, with results decided by the narrowest of margins.
The title was clinched by Ajay Kumar Bagaria and Ravi Goenka, who finished on 1817.0 Matchpoints after a superb display of partnership understanding and precision.

Close behind them were Kamal Krishna Mukherjee and Tapas Mukherjee, securing the runners-up position with 1805.0 Matchpoints, highlighting just how competitive the final standings were.
